On consumer plans (ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro; Claude Free and Pro) your files can be used to improve the model unless you switch that setting off. It's off by default only on Business and Enterprise plans. Doing this yourself keeps us out of it entirely — but it does not automatically keep your AI provider out of it, and we would rather tell you than let you assume.
